What is PBIS? Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports is a school-wide system of support that includes strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create a positive school environment.
A continuum of positive behavior interventions and support for all students will be taught in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria and playground. Each homeroom teacher will teach, role play & model safe, respectful & responsible behavior in all school settings.
PBIS includes Tier 1, Tier 2 & Tier 3 categories. Tier 1 is for all students. Tier 2 includes interventions for students who need some assistance meeting our school-wide expectations. Tier 3 includes interventions for students who have been unsuccessful even with documented Tier 2 interventions.
We want to reward outstanding behavior with COBRA Bucks. These bucks are given to students who exceed expectations. Cobra Bucks can be spent weekly on a variety of activities or rewards.
What does being a COBRA mean? “Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible” These school-wide expectations are located throughout the building in the form of stop signs and/or procedure signs to support student behavior. Expected voice levels are also indicated: 0=silence, 1=whisper, 2=conversation, 3=team talk, 4=outside voice.
